Corporate Partner Of The Month: Boeing Canada
Boeing Canada is a longtime friend and supporter of the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba and is instrumental in promoting early childhood literacy with their support of the READ program.
Through the READ program, pediatricians-in-training (residents) are encouraged to put reading on par with vaccines, tooth care and nutrition. Books are provided to children and their families. It’s a concept that aligns perfectly with Boeing’s core beliefs.
“The employees feel a connection to Boeing Winnipeg’s giving strategy,” says Kim Westenskow, General Manager Boeing Winnipeg, Managing Director, Boeing Canada. “One of Boeing Winnipeg’s focus areas of giving is Health and Human Services. A few years back Boeing was looking to partner with an organization that did more than treat sick kids, but rather wanted to partner on wellness as a whole.”
It’s a relationship that works and has expanded to include the replacement and upgrade of 2 unique teaching dolls dearly needed by Pediatric Nephrology.
“Boeing’s generosity not only stems for helping the READ program but by funding two new teaching dolls that will help educate children suffering from kidney problems,” says Dawna Wallace, Major Gifts Officer, Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba. “Medical procedures are constantly changing, and the dolls have new features that help doctors and nurses explain illness, procedures, and care to our smallest patients. We can’t thank Boeing enough!”
It’s a relationship cherished by both sides, with no end in sight.
“My favorite memory is visiting the hospital and seeing the children enjoy the books from the lending library,” recalls Westenskow. “It’s important to Support the Children’s Hospital because of the great work they do and continue to do for the city of Winnipeg.”
Bear hugs to the staff of Boeing Canada for helping sick kids feel better.
